Overview: 
 
The development of the course now known as Strategies for Student Success (S³) is a direct result of the evolving perceptions and desires of college level students across the nation. The course was designed to aid both the student (through successful performance at Nelson) and the university (through higher levels of student retention and student satisfaction). 

S³ classes are led by an S³ Faculty-Coach (referred to as “coach”) whose responsibilities include: 

  • Encourage new students through prayer, communication and support
  • Aid students in becoming connected with Nelson
  • Enhance student involvement in university activities and outreach
  • Promote growth in spiritual, academic, and social arenas
  • Develop an understanding of freshmen student needs and desires, and their future ministry
  • Answer difficult questions and concerns from students
Requirements:
·         Faith, service, and lifestyle that meets University expectations (See IPM sections: “Statement of Core Values,” “Doctrinal Statement,” “Christian Standards,” “Lifestyle Standard.”)
·         Applicants must have a Master’s degree. They must be willing to teach the course in-person/on-campus.
